Volunteer – No Hands But Yours

Habitat for Humanity of Greater Baton Rouge is a volunteer-driven organization. With minimal staff, Habitat depends on volunteer involvement in construction and other aspects of the organization to further our mission of ending poverty housing.

Non-construction help is also needed on the build site with hospitality, providing lunch and registration. Skilled construction volunteers assist staff members in directing small groups of volunteers on the build site. Since most construction tasks require only a desire to learn and ability work well with others, we encourage all willing volunteers, regardless of skill level, to come on site and learn from our more seasoned builders.

Volunteer construction days are Wednesdays and Saturdays from 7:45 am to 3pm.

There are also many other volunteer activities outside the construction area. Our varied volunteer works, and our volunteer committees help us achieve our mission.

Non-Construction Volunteer

ReStore

Join the Habitat ReStore’s team of volunteers as we raise funds to build simple, decent homes, as well as divert quality building materials from the landfill! There are many volunteer opportunities at the ReStore: Customer Service, Cashiering, Preparing Donations for Display, Picking up Donations, and Office Support. Best of all, you can support Habitat for Humanity’s mission to eliminate poverty housing in our community!

Mentor Program

Volunteers are needed to be Partner Family Mentors. Mentors build a relationship with their assigned partner family and provide them with additional support throughout the program and the first year of homeownership. The Mentor will be trained to serve as an advocate for both Habitat and the partner family.
Office Assistance: Volunteers are needed to help with archiving and data entry.
